Press Release

For Zona Maco 2025, MAIA Contemporary presents a dual presentation featuring the innovative works of New Zealand artist Aaron Glasson and North American artist Margaret R. Thompson. Both artists utilize earth-derived materials to investigate crucial themes surrounding the interconnectedness of humanity and the natural world, emphasizing ecological reverence and the often invisible frameworks that shape our perceptions of reality. This exhibition will highlight their latest creations across various mediums, including painting and sculpture. Through their distinct artistic lenses, the booth seeks to articulate a cohesive reflection on the interplay of feminine and masculine energies intrinsic to our existence. It explores contrasts between inward versus outward perspectives and internal versus external themes, fostering a meaningful dialogue within contemporary art and environmental discourse.
